Oyo PDP leaders vow to resist impunity
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in all the three senatorial districts of Oyo State have vowed to resist any form of imposition of candidates and impunity from the national secretariat of the party.
They also passed a confidence vote on the state executives of the political party from the wards to state level under the chairmanship of Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha.
Leaders from Oyo Central Senatorial district who passed vote of confidence in the party leadership include Senator Ayoade Adeseun, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, Chief Bisi Ilaka and Hon. Olasunkanmi Salami.
Others are Asiwaju Adeyemi Aderibigbe, Hon. D. A. Lawal, Hon. Oladepo Oyedokun, Engr. Abiola Olaniyan, Hon. Matthew Abioye, Hon. Moruf Akinwande and a host of others.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday by Engr. Akeem Olatunji, the Publicity Secretary of the Oyo PDP, party leaders in all the three senatorial districts, also affirmed former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, as the leader of the party in the state.
The statement revealed that the PDP leaders rose from their senatorial district meetings held at Oyo South, Oyo North and Oyo Central, and declared that they woud have no option than to leave the party en mass if the national leadership of the party tampers with the state executive.
According to the statement, “Consequent upon the meeting of the Oyo Central, Oyo North and Oyo South Senatorial Districts, the meeting came up with the following resolutions: that the entire party members and leadership in the three senatorial districts completely throw their weight behind Senator Rashidi Ladoja, the leader of the party state, in his fight against imposition and impunity of whatever forms within the party.
“That we dissociate ourselves from the sentiments expressed by a politician as was published on Nigerian Tribune with title ‘Ladoja cannot intimidate Oyo PDP’. The self-acclaimed leader did not speak the minds of teaming PDP members in Oyo Central Senatorial District.
“That we affirm our support and belief in the stewardship of all members of the state executive committee of the party as it currently constituted under the leadership of Omokunmi Mustapha as the chairman.
“We associate completely with the position of the leader of our party in the state that all forms of imposition and impunity hereby rejected and should not be tolerated no matter how little.
“That anything contrary to this would be vehemently rejected. Nevertheless, the meeting pleaded with all and sundry who are still nursing grievances as a result of the last state congresses to bury their hatchets and join the progressive train in order for all of us to ferry together to the government house in 2019.”
