Press Statement
Don’t Lose Hope, Obuah Urges Super Eagles
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been told not to despair over the 0-2 loss in last Saturday opener against Croatia in the ongoing Russia 2018 World Cup as they have other matches to prove their mettle and remain in the contest.
That was the view of Bro. Felix Obuah, the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while reacting to the shock loss of the Super Eagles against fellow Group D opponents, Croatia.
Bro. Obuah in a statement in Port Harcourt said Nigerians back home watched the match and appreciated the efforts made by the Super Eagles to change the tide of the game, noting that even though statistics showed their opponents put up better performance, they should put the match behind them and look up to the next games.
Bro. Obuah who is also the President/Sole Sponsor of Go-Round Football Club of Omoku, a side plying its trade in the elite professional league in Nigeria, re-emphasized that football is not mathematics, adding “It is a game where anything can happen. It is not over until it is over”.
He urged the boys to sharpen their attack in their next match against Iceland on Friday, June 22.
Bro. Obuah, a renowned philanthropist said the World Cup is replete with history of teams who lose their opening matches only to improve in the next games and even go on to win the trophy.
The State PDP Chairman also urged the boys to relive what he called the Nigerian spirit of determination and grit, urging them to remain focused knowing that Nigerians in their millions are praying for their success.
“If we won’t give up on you, then you must not give up on yourselves”, the state PDP boss charged the Eagles.
