Bukola Saraki's chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has dumped the APC

Bukola Saraki's chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has dumped the APC

He said the decision to leave the party was a difficult one - Baba-Ahmed also said he would remain in politics as that is the only way the country can be saved Senate President Bukola by Saraki's chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has on Monday, July 2, dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Ahmed was reported to have said that his decision do dump the APC has nothing to do with the Senate president. Premium Times reports that he said he described his decision to leave APC as a difficult one. He said he took the decision after due consultation with members of his Akida faction of APC in Kaduna. Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Monday, July 2, Mr Baba-Ahmed said he has sent a letter of withdrawal from APC to the party chairman in his ward.

This statement is to inform the public of my resignation from APC. I have sent a formal letter to this effect to chairman of my ward. “This has been a very difficult decision, to leave a party I helped to form and made my humble contributions to put in power.

After three years, however, I need to say that the APC has grossly under-performed and has forfeited any claim to my loyalty and continue membership. “I do not believe in all concience, that it should be trusted and encouraged to continue to govern our great country beyond 2019. “I am not leaving to join another party. This is my decision and mine alone . It has nothing to do with the president of the senate Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

“It’s a decision taken after due consultations with Akida Group, a group that has predated my appointment as chief of staff to the President of the Senate. “I will remain active in politics, as this is the main avenue for salvaging our nation from rising insecurity, poverty and bitter divisions,” he said.

He was a former chairman of the APC in Kaduna as well as a former chairman of the now defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC).

WIKE IS WORKING

Long abandoned and derelict, this facility has now been completely transformed by the Gov. Wike led government of Rivers State. It is now an addition to already existing Residential Accommodations for Civil Servants across the State.

Located at the heart of Old Port Harcourt, these housing units stand tall as one of the many urban renewal efforts of the Wike led Government in a location designated as a no-go area by the immediate past Government of Rivers State. The bitter truth must be told.

Illegal Use of SARS ahead of APC Congress has vindicated us  -Governor Wike

Illegal Use of SARS ahead of APC Congress has vindicated us  -Governor Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the illegal use of operatives  of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and military personnel to cause rancour ahead of  the APC Congress  in the state has vindicated him.

He stated that the series of statements released by APC stakeholders on the illegal activities of SARs Personnel in the course of their  forthcoming congress should draw  the attention of all well-meaning lovers of democracy.

Speaking during a Courtesy Visit by the retired military and para-military officers of Ogoni extraction at the Government House Port Harcourt on Friday, Governor Wike said if security agencies can be negatively used during  a party congress, Nigerians should expect electoral mischief, masterminded by security agencies in 2019.

He  said: "In an ordinary party congress, over a platoon of soldiers and more than 200 SARs Personnel have been handed over to one man. If these operatives protect just one man , while other communities are left without protection.

"Even the notorious election rigger, SARS Commander Akin Fakorede is operating without  check because  he has the support of the Police High Command ".

He said that conflicts during elections are generated by  overzealous security agents, detailed to manipulate the process.

The governor urged the retired military and paramilitary senior officers to use their contacts in the military to prevail on them to respect the rule of law in a democracy.

He stated that his administration will continue to invest in the promotion of security of lives and property across the state.

Governor Wike thanked the retired military and paramilitary senior officers of Ogoni extraction for their desire to contribute to the development of the state.  He urged other leaders to emulate the Ogoni retired officers.

Leader of the Retired Military and Paramilitary Officers of Ogoni Extraction, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo thanked Governor Wike for infrastructural development of Ogoni communities.

He said that as retired military and paramilitary senior officers, they are willing to offer their services for the security of Ogoni land.

Rivers PDP Uncovers Plot To Frame Up Party Chieftains By APC

Press Statement

Rivers PDP Uncovers Plot To Frame Up Party Chieftains By APC

As the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continues with the last lap of its party primaries ahead of the June Local Government Council elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, rather than be concerned on how to resolve the internal wrangling tearing the APC apart in the State, is busy plotting to use the primary elections to discredit the PDP and its leadership.

One of the such sinister moves according to a the statement from the office of the State PDP chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, is to plant guns and other incriminating materials in the houses and offices of selected PDP chieftains and supporters to frame them up as being in possession of arms and accuse them of being responsible for alleged insecurity in those areas.

The statement said the APC leadership in the State is behind the unwholesome plot and has earmarked some substantial amount of money as ransom to their hatch men before the information leaked.

To make the plot look real, the statement added, certain persons perceived as PDP strong men, particularly in Ikwerre Local Government Area and across the other 22 Local Government Areas have been selected to be provoked and attacked by their paid agents in the course of the primaries during which they will alert and prevail on security operatives to subject their houses and offices to thorough searching in the hope of discovering and using those planted guns as evidence to prove their mischief.

The PDP leadership said its main concern is to ensure that the ongoing primaries and upcoming Local Government Council election in the State are freely and successfully concluded to further enhance democratic principles in the State to serve as a lesson to other political parties including the APC.

“Our joy about the revelations, however, is that everybody can now see why the APC in the State is jittery about the new ‘Neighbourhood Safety Corps Law’ as an internal security mechanism to help security agencies checkmate this kind of unbecoming penchant to demonize innocent individuals and our party as the only way they can win sympathy from the unsuspecting public. Thank God,  this plot is public knowledge and cannot be denied.

The paid agents are even ready to testify and name their paymasters. Though not the issue, we are happy about the exposure and the failure”, the statement remarked.

The State PDP leadership has therefore enjoined the general public to be weary of the APC’s mischief and remain supportive of the people-oriented Wike-led government for a better and crime-free Rivers State.

Zik Prize: Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah Eulogizes Gov Wike

Press Statement

Zik Prize: Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah Eulogizes Gov Wike

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah says one outstanding feature of Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic and political orientations is the ability to identify the crown from the crowd.

Bro Obuah stated this on the heels of the Zik Leadership Prize for Good Governance awarded to the State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike by the Public Policy Research ad Analysis Centre (PPRAC), Lagos.

According to the State PDP boss, it takes a visionary and courageous leader in the mold of Gov Wike to confront the kind of developmental challenges such as he did on assumption of office and still excelled.

The joy of it all, Bro Obuah noted, is the avalanche of honours, awards and recognitions on His Excellency by various national and international bodies in appreciation of his giant developmental strides.

Bro Obuah therefore congratulated the Governor for proving to the whole world that in Rivers State, there are still gifted personalities and world class leaders to contrast a few self-acclaimed leaders who revel in blowing their own trumpets that can only deceive impressionable minds.

The State PDP Chairman, expressed joy that Gov Wike rather than get distracted, has continued to be spurred to do even more for the State and humanity by all the recognitions.

All that is needed now, Bro Obuah pointed out, is for all hands to be on deck to ensure that the good works of the Governor are brought to a complete and logical conclusion by rallying round him for a second term, reassuring that the whole benefit is that of the Rivers people.

Bro Obuah strongly re-emphasized that the voice of the people, being the voice of God, Gov Wike will successfully serve out his two terms according to the wishes and prayers of the Rivers people and no amount of conspiracy will stop him.

Press Statement

Sole Patron Of SWAN:

Governor Wike, On The Path Of Honour - Obuah

Thrilled by the revalidation of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as Sole Patron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) by the National Working Committee (NEC) of the Association, the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has described the development as heart-warming and awesomely deserving.

Bro. Obuah in a statement in Port Harcourt said the choice of the Sports Loving Governor as Sole Patron by the nation’s foremost sports writers is a clear testimony that gold fish truly has no hiding place, stating that the Governor is on the path of honour as this is coming on the heels of his nomination for the prestigious Africa Power of Sports Award slated to hold in Brussels in May, 2018.

He reechoed his position that Governor Wike’s penchant for sports development in Rivers State and Nigeria at large remains unparalleled, adding with confidence that the SWAN Award will propel the Governor to do more.

Bro. Obuah expressed happiness that Wike’s revalidation as Sole Patron by SWAN was coming on the heels of the successful hosting of the African Wrestling Championship which has been adjudged the best in the continent in recent times.

Bro. Obuah said the honour done the Governor by SWAN has marked him out as a brand ambassador of sports development as according to him, Wike administration has made more inroads in sports development than his predecessors.

The State PDP Chairman who is also the President/Sole Sponsor of Go-Round FC of Omoku praised Governor Wike for his policy of developing other segments of sports and urged him to keep up the tempo, assuring that posterity would certainly celebrate him among the heroes of the State.

Bro. Obuah commended the NEC and members of SWAN for finding the State Governor deserving of the award as indicated by the overwhelming vote cast in favour of the Governor as the Sole Patron of the body.

The Go-Round FC boss who is also Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), called on the people of the State to continue to support the Governor who is working assiduously to make life meaningful for everyone irrespective of party affiliation.

RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT

MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

PRESS STATEMENT

GOV WIKE CHAIRS TASK FORCE ON ILLEGAL ROAD TRADING

The Rivers State Executive Council has set up a Special Task Force chaired by the State Governor Nyesom Wike  to clear illegal traders from major roads and streets  in Port Harcourt and its environs.

In a press statement issued today after the State Exco meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communications Mr Emma Okah said the decision to set up a high powered task force and chaired by the Governor   is to demonstrate the irreversible determination of Govt to rid major roads in the State of the environmental hazards and sanitary embarrassment and nuisance which the activities of illegal  traders are inflicting on the State and her people.

The Government notes with sadness the recalcitrance of these street traders who have continuously dared the efforts of government to keep our roads and environment clean. Sadly,  they mess up the environment, litter the roads, cause disorder and contribute nothing by way of tax or otherwise to clean their mess.

"As a government, we owe a duty to those we serve to protect the environment, enhance sanitation and promote order in our state, Okah said, noting that illegal traders in our major roads are on the wrong side of the law and will face the right music.

Consequently, from Thursday 12th April, 2018 the Governor of Rivers State will lead members of the Special Task Force,  in the first phase of their mandate, to flush illegal traders from the roads and affected streets and restore nomalcy. The exercise will be a continuing one until the ugly situation is reversed.

However, it is necessary to warn that in the course of this exercise, traders caught by the  special task force may lose their goods, suffer arrest, face prosecution and possible jail term upon conviction.  If this happens the consequences may be unpleasant and unattractive for any one to test the will of the special task force.

Major roads and spots to be cleared by the task force in the first phase of this exercise include Bishop Okoye Street in Diobu, Garrison, Nitel near Garrison, GRA 2 junction,  other parts of GRA Phase 2 where illegal tradings are going on, Old GRA, Ikwerre Road, Wimpey Junction, Trans Amadi, etc.

Loot For Campaign: PDP Demands Proscription of APC

Press Statement

Loot For Campaign: PDP Demands Proscription of APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately proscribe the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the undisputed revelations that it financed President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 campaign with looted funds.

The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday, also gave the Buhari-led Presidency a three-day ultimatum to respond to allegations that it was elected with looted funds or find itself top of the list of confirmed looters.

The party said instead of the Presidency and the APC to come out with a response on how President Buhari’s 2015 campaign was funded with looted sums, they are busy hallucinating about names of individuals whose matters are before the courts of competent jurisdiction.

It is evidently clear that the APC, Federal Government and the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, are running away from the issue of how they raised money to install Buhari as President.

They have pressed the panic button and resorted to unfounded allegations against PDP members just to divert the attention of Nigerians and the international community from their atrocious government and its manifold failures of leadership.

The PDP will not join the panicky APC and the Federal Government in their resort to engage in matters that are subjudice because we believe and respect the Rule of Law, particularly, as it concerns the rights of every citizens.

We know those in the APC and Buhari’s cabinet, who as champions of looting, plundered the resources of their various states and handed same over for the very expensive electioneering campaign of President Buhari, who had earlier confessed of his insolvency.

We have challenged the APC and the Presidency to declare the sources of these funds and how they were used since they have been proven to come from public coffers.

Now that the APC, the Federal Government, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Buhari Presidency have chosen a loud silence rather than accepting that looted funds were used to install Buhari as President in 2015, we charge INEC to do the needful by commencing the process for the proscription of the APC as a political party.

Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah Urges Christians To Pray For Continued Success of Wike Administration

Easter Message:

Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah Urges Christians To Pray For Continued Success of Wike Administration

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has urged Christians in the State to use the Easter celebration to pray for the continued success of the administration of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Bro. Obuah, in his special Easter message to Christians in the State said such prayers would go a long way to engender good governance and uplift the well-being of the people.

He described the Easter as a period of sacrifice, when we recall and mark the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ who gave Himself as a ransom to redeem mankind and reconcile us with our creator.

Bro. Obuah stressed that the price for Christ’s death for humanity was immeasurable as the Christian faith is anchored on His death and resurrection.

“It would have been unimaginable what would have befallen Christians if Jesus had not resurrected after telling the world that he would die and rise on the third day” he stated.

The PDP Chairman stated that the Christian faith is driven by the Holy Spirit and urged Christians to call on Him for divine power if we must live above the natural.

He charged Christians and people of the State to make sacrifices and complement government’s effort by meeting one another’s needs, adding that this period calls for a renewed spirit to support one another, pray and fast.

Bro. Obuah noted that the Nyesom Wike-led government in the State needs their prayers for God’s favour and mercies to meet the socio-economic needs of the people.

“Our Governor needs our support and we have to do the needful like carrying out our obligations as good citizens.  We should not sabotage his efforts by engaging in acts inimical to his administration,” said the PDP Chairman.

Good Works Of Governor Wike Attract More People To PDP – Obua

Press Statement

Good Works Of Governor Wike Attract More People To PDP – Obuah

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah has said that the gale of defections into the party by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State is a result of the good works of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Bro. Obuah in a statement in Port Harcourt, said the overwhelming achievements of Governor Wike less than three years in office have convinced doubting Thomases that good governance is possible in the State.

The State PDP boss who spoke on the heels of massive defection of APC members led by the APC lawmaker representing Tai State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Dike in Tai Local Government Area to the PDP on Tuesday, praised the decampees for taking the right decision to dump the APC which he described as an expired association.

While urging the APC remnants still left in the Party, including the lawmaker representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Barry Mpigi to join the ongoing exodus of their members into the PDP across the State, Bro. Obuah described the development as positive, restating that the APC is not and can never be an option for the Riversman or woman.

“For eight consecutive years, Rivers people were infested with bad governance by the APC peopled by a group of greedy, self-seeking and unpatriotic individuals.  But the emergence of Governor Wike changed the tide and brought massive infrastructural development in all the nooks and crannies of the State”, he said.

Bro. Obuah added that Amaechi and his group of scoundrels did more disservice to the people in failing to provide a peaceful and tranquil environment for the people.

“Happily, Governor Wike graciously brought peace to the State and aside his inroad in infrastructural development; he has made commendable marks in the area of education, healthcare, housing, human capacity building and youths/ women development”, the State PDP boss said.

Bro. Obuah said the mass defection of APC members into the PDP became inevitable as Governor Wike has not only delivered on his campaign promises but has clearly exceeded all expectations.

“What about the numerous awards he has received declaring him as Governor of the Year, the most recent being the Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year, back to back, Silverbird and Daily Independent Awards”, he said, adding that Governor Wike has also warmed his way into the hearts of the international community, the latest being his nomination for the prestigious Africa Power of Sports Award which will be conferred on him on May 8, 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.

Press Statement

APC Position On Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Self Contradictory – PDP

The chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah says the State Neighbourhood Corps law has recorded its first major landmark by exposing the secret plans and the many lies of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State to the security agencies about the security situation in the State.

The State PDP chairman in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam in reaction to the lamentation and threat by the APC to come up with its own security outfit, said the only reason for what he described as ludicrous ranting of a frustrated loser is that its plot to cause unease in the State before and during the upcoming elections has been botched and its recruited hooligans to be used are now rendered useless by the new law.

Bro Obuah expressed  shock that a party that had always alleged insecurity in the State would so much show disdain for genuine efforts by the people – oriented administration of Governor Nyesom Wike to address the menace of crime and related cases once and for all.

More surprising, the State PDP boss noted, was the tendency of the APC to be approbating and reprobating at the same time by discrediting the Neighbourhood Safety Corps and also threatening to create a similar security outfit which of course, they lack the powers to do so.

Dismissing the threat credited to the APC State Publicity Secretary, Chris Fynbone as mere bombastic junk, the State PDP leadership said it is high time the APC aligned itself to issue-based politics and stop attacking personalities and genuine intentions.

Bro Obuah said for the APC to deny the many unprecedented landmarks of Governor Wike including youth employment in the State shows that they are either natural selfish ingrates or they are just existing and not living in Rivers State.

Virile  opposition as a feature of a democratic government, the State PDP chairman noted, is far from not appreciating the ruling party even when it has performed excellently and commendably well, a character which he said is the stock in trade of the APC, describing the situation as shameful.

Bro Obuah appealed to the Rivers people, the youths and security agencies in the State to discountenance the pranks of the APC, reassuring that the Neighbourhood Safety Corps has come to be and will hopefully address the pockets of criminal activities across the State by assisting security agencies with intelligence information on suspects irrespective of their social, economic and political connections.

He advised the APC to thread the path of caution, pocket their preemptions and wait to see if there will be any sacred cows in the implementation of the Neighbourhood Safety Corps law before, during and after the 2019 elections, adding that the law is for the security of the land and not for elections.

GOVERNOR WIKE TO AMAECHI: RIVERS PEOPLE VOTED FOR ME BECAUSE OF MY OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE.. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that Rivers people overwhelmingly voted for him during the 2019 Governorship Election because of his outstanding performance and projects delivery. In a response to false allegations made by the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi during his appearance on Channels Television Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Governor Wike said that the Former Rivers State Governor failed in his quest to truncate his second term because Rivers people are happy with his work. He said he wouldn't have responded to the falsehood being peddled by the Minister of Transportation, but he owes the public the duty to set the record straight. He said: "It is unfortunate. I extended the Olive Branch and I meant every word of it. It was on that basis that the State Attorney General filed a nolle prosequi to withdraw the charge against Flag Amachree. "If I did not do well in my first term, PDP wouldn't have given me the party's flag to fly. In 2015, the same man vowed that over his dead body would I emerge victorious. "I have done well for my people . It is for the people of Rivers State to decide. It is not the in the place of Amaechi to decide. "We have over 6million people and over 3million registered voters. Therefore, Amaechi cannot say I cannot go for a second term. He has only one vote. "In the past, he said an Ikwerre man cannot succeed another Ikwerre man. Today, he is saying his grouse is that I cannot go for a second term. At every step, he has one story or the other". Governor Wike said contrary to the story that Amaechi peddled whilst he was on Channels Television, kidnapping raged during his tenure. He said it was so bad that the State Chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission under Amaechi was kidnapped. The Governor noted that despite the National High-Rate of insecurity, Rivers State is relatively peaceful, with very high ratings. "Our internally Generated Revenue has improved due to the peace and security of the state". Governor Wike said that the political misfortune that befell the APC during the last general elections in Rivers State was principally due to the impunity of Amaechi . He said: "It is because of this impunity that his party was not on the ballot. Because of this impunity he has denied so many people their political future ". He said that the plots by Amaechi to manipulate the Tribunal will fail like other previous plots.
