THE Action Democratic Party , ADP, in Edo State has raised the alarm over alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State to rig tomorrow’s local government elections, vowing to resist alleged attempts to intimidate other political parties out of the race.
The party also lampooned the state House of Assembly for voting against the autonomy of state Houses of Assembly in the ongoing process to amend the constitution by the National Assembly, saying that “Members have shown that they are a rubber-stamp House of Assembly.”
But reacting, APC state Secretary, Lawrence Okah, described the allegation as untrue, saying: “APC has no plans to rig but as you can see, APC remains the only party on ground in Edo State and it will not be surprising that the party wins in the elections through free and fair polls. But the issue of rigging is never in our plans.”
Addressing journalists in Benin City yesterday, the Chairman, Media and Publicity of ADP in the state, Tony Erha, declared that any attempt to falsify the results of the Saturday local government elections in the state will create crisis in the state.
