Governor Wike flags off the construction of Rumuepirikom Internal Roads
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has flagged off the construction of eleven Rumuepirikom Internal Roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Flagging off the construction of the 11 roads on Monday, Governor Wike said that the roads constitute the first phase of intervention in the area by his administration.
Governor Wike stated that at the end of his first tenure, all the roads in Rumuepirikom Community would have been constructed to totally re-position the economy of the area.
He said: "I cannot be answering Mr Projects in other communities of the state and here in Rumuepirikom, the people don't get to see first hand that I am Mr Projects.
"I will personally supervise the execution of these roads . We are entitled to have the best in our community ".
The governor urged the contractor to work with the Rumuepirikom Community by way of employment and award of sub-contracts.
He thanked the Rumuepirikom Community for the rousing welcome he received . He said that the contractor has been mobilised to immediately commence work.
Rivers State Works Commissioner, Dum Dekor said that the eleven roads which are 11.2kilometres will employ 250 persons.
He said that all the eleven roads are coming with street lights and standard drainage. He said that the roads will be delivered in 6months.
Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Prince Noble Amadi said that the people of Rumuepirikom are happy with the commencement of the construction of the roads.
Highpoint of the occasion was the defection of APC members led by Oluchi Omunnakwe.
Governor Wike later inspected ongoing construction of Judges Quarters and Produce House in Port Harcourt.
