Governance is about service to the governed
Every government by virtue of the ballot is into a social contract with the electorate to provide
protection and basic amenities for the wellbeing of the
state and it's citizens. This social contract is sacrosanct
and is the parameter for measuring the faithfulness of
the government to the governed
On May 29, 2015 Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike
NEW) signed a social contract with the people of Rivers
State to protect lives and property, as well provide
quality living for the people through improved
infrastructural, social, economical and human capital
development. This contract, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo
Wike did not breach, particularly in the ljaw-speaking
areas of the state. It is indeed a contract worthy and
most faithful. We gave him our votes to bring dividends
HON. TONYE S. ADOKI
of democracy and he truly brought same to us
It is primordal in Rivers State for ethnic groups to ask for the seat of governor in everyelection.
The Ijaws in Rivers State especially have been denied for too long: Yes we deserve it, we are eminently
qualified, it is but fair to let us have it even before now. We must however be fully prepared
socially, economically, culturally and politically to once more take overthe reigns of government.
Anyone who is sincere to favour the ljaws(Riverine) must first demonstrate it by being faithful to
earlier contracts reached
It is on this note we the ORGANIZATION OF IJAWS IN THE RIVERINE wish to showcase physical
proofs of Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike's faithfulness in keeping contracts. The people-oriented
projects as shown in this collection are eloquent testimonies that Governor Nyesom Wike kept to
his part of the social contract reached with ljaws. He has prepared us socially, economically
culturally and politically to succeed him. What now remains to be done is for us to give him total
support for a second term in office so as to consolidate on his achievements and prepare us (the
jaws) even better and stronger, fit adequately for 2023
These compilations are some major footprints of NYESOM EZENwo wIKE in Rivers-Ijaw land.
They are life-touching physical development peojects that will remain evergreen in the hearts of
our people. From Opobo/Nkoro to Andoni, from Ogu/Bolo to Okrika, from Bonny to Degema,
from Asari-Toru to Akuku-Toru and then Port Harcourt where Ijaws domicile, Chief Nyesom
Ezenwo Wike signed a signature project, footprints that will not be forgotten.
LET US THEN AS A PEOPLE ARISE AND STAND BEHIND A TRUE IJAW SON FROM AN IKWERRE
PARENT
WIKE 2019-ONWARD TOGETHER
ANDONIOPOBO NKORO UNITY ROAD
One of the key commitments that Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike made during his campaigns
ahead of the 2015 General Election is the completion of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro
Unity Road which links the riverine communities to the mainland.
On November 16, 2016, Governor Wike made good his promise. He flagged off the completio
of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Unity Road and assured the people of Andoni and Opobo
Nkoro that before the end of his first term, they will be driving home to their respective
communities.
He assured that the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Unity Road will be consistently funded
because his administration remains committed to the economic development of the
riverine communities . He said: "This road is a major economic intervention for the riverine
communities of Opobo and Andoni Local Government Areas.
This project has become one of the major highpoints of the Wike administration. The
contractor, Raffoul Nigeria Limited is working round the clock to ensure the actualization o
the governor's pledge. Funding has been consistent. So far, rural dwellers have been
empowered through regular sub-contracts, direct and indirect employment by the contractor
On the Opobo axis at the Nkoro Junction, the contractors have laid asphalt up to Bridge
Number 7, which is approximately four kilometres. Work has been completed along thi
section.
After bridge 7, the contractors are heading towards bridge 8. The span of bridg
1600metres long. Work has reached 300 metres away from the position of bridge 8
Bush clearing work towards bridge 8 has reached advanced stage and it will be completed
soonest. For now, bush clearing has reached the creek crossing into Opobo Town. From the
bridge to Kalaibiama, the contractor is embarking on extensive earthworks and piling with
sharp sand.
With the consistency of work and the delivery of culverts, roads and asphalts, the contractor
will enter into Opobo town between June and July, 2018. For the Andoni axis, from the Nko
Junction, asphalting has gone beyond five kilometres up to Bridge 3. The contra
done quality stone base.
The road is expected to reach Ngo town, the headquarters of Andoni Local Government
between June and July, 2018
Governor Wike remains committed to state-wide development, carrying every ethn
nationality along in the growth process.
For the people of Opobo-Nkoro and Andoni Local Government Areas, the Unity Road remai
a vital source of economic opportunities. The roads will kick-start multiple economi
activities, especially small and medium scale enterprises. The fact that the Ogoni-Andoni-
Opobo-Nkoro Unity Road links the all-important Sakpenwa-Bori Road makes access to Port
Harcourt easier for businesses in the two local government areas
For Governor Wike, the main goal is to improve the living condition of Rivers people, enhance
their security and transform their environment.
